The SmartWood Program of the Rainforest Alliance will conduct a forest management assessment of the SEPH forestry operations between June 20 and July 18, 2007. The purpose of the assessment is to determine if the forest can be certified as meeting the requirements of the Forest Stewardship Council, an independent and widely recognized forest certification system. SmartWood is an FSC certification body with offices in Canada and several other regions of the world.

Forest management certification assessment of Domtar Inc.'s White River Forest in Ontario. The SmartWood Program of the Rainforest Alliance is conducting forest management and chain of custody certification assessments of the White River Forest located within the Ministry of Natural Resources (MNR) Administrative District of Wawa. The assessment will be implemented from November 13, 2006 to December 13, 2006, with the on-site visit scheduled for November 13-17. Download.
Westwind Forest Stewardship inc. has appointed SGS QUALIFOR to carry out an evaluation of the management of the French Severn Forest with a view to seeking the re-certification against the requirements of the Forest Stewardship Council Principles and Criteria (FSC P&C). SGS QUALIFOR plans to carry out the evaluation during 23 to 27 Octobre 2006. A stakeholder consultation is organized as part of the re-certification process. As stakeholders, you are invited to attend an information session and to comment on Westwind Forest Stewardship forest management practices to be held at the Jolly Roger on Thursday October 26th at 5:30 pm .

KPMG Forest Certification Services Inc. will conduct an assessment of Mistik Management Ltd.'s Meadow Lake, Saskatchewan FMA area. A stakeholder consultation process is planned for hte winter and spring of 2006, with the main assessment scheduled for Fall 2006. Notification of Pending FSC Certification Evaluation of Sudbury Forest: The Vermillion Forest Management Company (VFM) is seeking Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) endorsed certification of its Sustainable Forest License (SFL) on the Sudbury Forest in Ontario. This notice is to inform you that a certification assessment will be conducted beginning October 25, 2005. The Sudbury Forest is approximately 1.1 million ha located near the city of Sudbury, Ontario. It is made up of a transitional forest type that straddles the Boreal forest to the north and the Great Lakes-St. Lawrence mixed-wood forests and agricultural areas to the south. Scientific Certification Systems (SCS), a FSC-accredited certification body based in Emeryville, California, will conduct this FSC certification assessment. SCS welcomes comments on the forest management of the VFM, the SCS Draft Interim Standard for the Sudbury Forest, or other topics pertinent to VFM seeking FSC certification.
