The FSC label is proof to consumers that the wood fibre in a product comes from well-managed forests. Not only are forests certified against a set of standards (FM certification), but all producers and suppliers along the supply chain are as well (CoC certification). This means that at each step along the supply chain you can track the FSC-certified fibre and ensure that the final FSC-labeled product actually contains fibre from an FSC-certified forest. Only those companies that have received a CoC certification are provided with FSC labels.

FSC labels identify the quantity of FSC-certified, reclaimed, recycled and/or controlled material in the final FSC-certified good. FSC-certified companies are provided with a 'brand pack' of FSC-labels and a certification code when they become CoC certified. Certificate holders must meet the requirements of the FSC on-product labelling standard (FSC-STD-40-201) when applying labels to FSC-certified products.
