Maritime Standard
The FSC Maritimes Standard applies in the Acadian forest region of the Maritimes provinces including Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island. The region is transitional zone between northern hardwood forest and boreal forest components that contain patterns and processes of both forest types. In the Canadian context, one of the distinctive features of the Maritimes forest is that the majority of forests are privately owned. As well, there is a longer history of active management than in many other regions of Canada.
