FSC Xpert Program

The growing awareness and recognition of the value of FSC certification, and the large demand for FSC-certified products has created an audience of  organizations, professionals and individuals eager to learn more about the FSC certification process.

In 2007, FSC Canada launched an online educational program and designation in North America called the FSC Xpert program (FSC Xpert List). In order to test the concept and content material, a ‘pioneer’ phase of the program was launched between Oct. 2007 and Feb. 2008. Over 100 professionals participated in the pioneer phase, and an additional 400 individuals signed up to join a fully launched training program; needless to say the response to the program was overwhelmingly positive.

While a full launch of the program was anticipated for Spring 2008, the program was put on-hold at the request of FSC International, and due to insufficient funds to develop a fully interactive online eLearning website. FSC Canada remains convinced, however of the need for a program that gives committed individuals the knowledge and skill to successfully navigate the increasingly complex world of environmental purchasing. To this end, FSC Canada is developing an online FSC Training program, to be launched in the near future.

What is the FSC Training Program?

The FSC Training Program is an online eLearning program offering courses, discussion forums, and resources on FSC certification and related topics. While this program is not yet up and running, it is anticipated to be launched in the near future.

Access to the eLearning site will be provided to individuals that register and pay on a course-by-course basis, and to FSC Members and Supporters as a benefit in exchange for the fees paid. While the program will initially be offered to individuals in North America, the possibility of global expansion will be discussed with other FSC offices.  Registered users of the eLearning site will be able to take courses on a variety of topics, test their knowledge through online exams, download presentations, view resources, post events, create a personal profile, and participate in discussion forums. The intent is to provide an educational forum for FSC, and to create a social network of individuals that are committed to promoting the principles and vision of FSC.
